Being a Physician
When I approach a patient with any active or potential
disease process, I review the Evidence-Based literature
for differential diagnosis and treatment plans including medicines,
blood work, imaging , diet, exercise, or surgery. As a family
practice physician trained in behavioral health, I educate
the patient and their family on the risks and benefits of
all the treatment plans we discuss. The patient is an active
participant in choosing the plan that works best for them,
and one which they are sure they will be able to follow.
After the initial intake visit I provide Osteopathic therapy
and teach yoga poses specific to the individual. This is
obviously a time consuming process, and usually takes a
few weekly visits to refine. |
It is, however, extremely
effective. Patients experience not only a reduction of the
symptoms that brought them to the doctor in the first place,
but also an increased overall sense of well being. As a
physician this process allows me not merely to diagnose
illness and prescribe treatment, but also to witness the
complex biopsychosocial nature of health. Having seen the
benefits of this process, I could never practice any other
way.
