Prospective Patients of Mountain Medical Arts, PLLC

New patients who would like a consultation with physicians in our practice

We strive to offer high-quality health care to our patients and their families. Mountain Medical Arts has two board-certified physicians and a certified physician's assistant who currently serve a total of 3,225 patients and provide preventive, therapeutic and emergency in-office care as well as inpatient care at Blue Ridge Hospital and two skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers.

We also handle all of the child abuses cases for Yancey County, serve as medical directors for both the Yancey and Mitchell County Hospices, and provide outpatient care for the Yancey County Jail.

Although our practice is full, we recognize that there is a strong need for the integrative and comprehensive health care that we provide at Mountain Medical Arts.

Toward this end, we are accepting new patients on a limited consultation basis only (maximum of 6 visits).

New Patient Consult Fee

If accepted into our practice, a $500 new patient consult fee is required to be paid up front to establish care with our practice. This fee is not reimbursable through insurance.

Our new patient fee covers all the services necessary to develop a complete patient health profile including a thorough review of your health history and a comprehensive review of any relevant medical records that we need to obtain to ensure we have a complete understanding of your current health situation.

This fee also covers obtaining prior authorizations for your previous records of medications, tests, consultations and visits with other relevent primary care, alternative care providers or specialists. It also includes research regarding your treatment options and efficacies, and phone or email consultations for additional information or tests we may need to gather prior to your first visit.

The new patient consult fee does not include the first office visit, which will be billed separately to your insurance, if you have it, or per our sliding scale fees. Certain services also hold extra fees at the time of the visit, such as osteopathic work or in detail review of certain nutritional evaluations or neuroendocrine interpretations if ordered.

New Patient Consult Waitlist

If you are interested in consulting with physicians in our practice, you must complete our online Medical Health History and Consent To Release Information forms in order to be placed on our wait list. Our wait list is for new patient consults only, we do not have a wait list for new patients.

You may access these forms on our website by clicking here.

You will be notified which practicioner has an opening and can either agree to establish with that provider or request to be put on a waiting list for another Mountain Medical Arts provider, however, this will likely significantly increase your waiting time.

Once you agree to become a patient and all of your material has been received, your new patient fee is not reimbursable for we will already begun the process of interpreting it. If you chose not to follow through with an office visit, you will still receive the comprehensive note created during this process that will include suggestions. Without an office visit, this patient note is not an official medical document; however, it may assist you in organizing future care.
